Monumental Commissions

If you are interested in commissioning an original large scale bronze sculpture, the process is as follows:
- Define Concept
Jeff will communicate with the client about exactly what it is that they wish for him to create; its size, complexity, accoutrements, etc.
- Letter of Agreement
Stipulates description, price, and projected timeline for completion
- Reference Gathering
Photo and video sessions taken at this time, if possible. More sessions later as needed; any other pictures or reference material that could be useful is collected
- Sculpting of Maquette
If the final work is to be larger than maquette size, a maquette (miniature version) is sculpted first. This is usually 6 to 8 inches tall and is approved by the client before the larger version is begun. This step is important because if the client wishes any changes to be made, it is much easier to do so to the miniature than to the larger version. Clients may also wish to have copies of the maquette cast in bronze for fundraising or other purposes
- Sculpting of the full-size version
- Foundry Process
The original clay sculpture is taken to a bronze foundry. A mold of it is made and then bronze copies are cast from the mold
- Final Delivery
